Description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Solar Service Technician/Foreman with proven expertise in working with PV systems and handling thick cables in the solar energy sector. Join their team of solar specialists dedicated to creating a greener future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Servicing: Perform installations and servicing of both grid-tied and off-grid solar PV systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Conduct service and maintenance trips to remote sites nationwide, diagnosing and resolving complex electrical and system issues.
  • Site Inspections: Carry out thorough site inspections and oversee project management to ensure successful implementation.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and manage installation teams to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Design Assistance: Contribute to on-site design, including electrical layouts, AC-, DC-, P&ID- single line diagrams, as well as structural and civil components.

Requirements

Skills & Attributes Required:

  • Solid understanding of networks & IT
  • Solid understanding of electricity & energy flow
  • Able to read engineering drawings
  • Professional communication skills and neat records keeping

Requirements:

  • Crucial Expertise: Demonstrable knowledge and experience with PV systems and the ability to work effectively with thick cables in solar energy applications.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of electrical systems, solar energy equipment, and installation processes.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in remote and challenging environments.
  • Leadership Ability: Experience in supervising teams and managing projects on-site.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel to remote locations as required by project needs.

Other Requirements:

  • Namibian Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Valid driver's license (Code CE would be an advantage).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Afrikaans.
  • A good medical record to meet the physical demands of the role.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum N4 qualification in electrical or solar energy systems is required.
  • Possession of a Wireman’s License is a strong advantage.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the solar PV industry.
  • Familiarity with design tools and software for creating layouts and diagrams is a plus.
