Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Solar Service Technician/Foreman with proven expertise in working with PV systems and handling thick cables in the solar energy sector. Join their team of solar specialists dedicated to creating a greener future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Servicing: Perform installations and servicing of both grid-tied and off-grid solar PV systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Conduct service and maintenance trips to remote sites nationwide, diagnosing and resolving complex electrical and system issues.
- Site Inspections: Carry out thorough site inspections and oversee project management to ensure successful implementation.
- Team Supervision: Supervise and manage installation teams to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Design Assistance: Contribute to on-site design, including electrical layouts, AC-, DC-, P&ID- single line diagrams, as well as structural and civil components.
Requirements
Skills & Attributes Required:
- Solid understanding of networks & IT
- Solid understanding of electricity & energy flow
- Able to read engineering drawings
- Professional communication skills and neat records keeping
Requirements:
- Crucial Expertise: Demonstrable knowledge and experience with PV systems and the ability to work effectively with thick cables in solar energy applications.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of electrical systems, solar energy equipment, and installation processes.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in remote and challenging environments.
- Leadership Ability: Experience in supervising teams and managing projects on-site.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel to remote locations as required by project needs.
Other Requirements:
- Namibian Citizenship is mandatory.
- Valid driver's license (Code CE would be an advantage).
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Afrikaans.
- A good medical record to meet the physical demands of the role.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Qualifications:
- A minimum N4 qualification in electrical or solar energy systems is required.
- Possession of a Wireman’s License is a strong advantage.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the solar PV industry.
- Familiarity with design tools and software for creating layouts and diagrams is a plus.
