Description

As an Assistant Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the workshop, providing leadership, direction, and support to staff while ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision & Leadership: Oversee and manage daily workshop operations in collaboration with the Workshop Operations Supervisor.

  • Work Delegation: Organize and delegate tasks effectively to team members.

  • Staff Training: Provide training to new employees and ongoing training for current staff.

  • Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.

  • Cost Control: Optimize profitability by controlling operational costs.

  • Leadership & Direction: Provide clear leadership and direction to staff, ensuring consistent performance.

  • Staff Performance Reviews: Prepare and conduct staff performance reviews.

  • Customer Service: Ensure a high standard of customer service is maintained consistently.

  • Staff Motivation: Motivate and support staff by setting clear job expectations, planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results.

  • Task Completion: Complete tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.

  • Staff Oversight: Monitor staff progress, work performance, and provide feedback.

  • Job Completion: Ensure the successful completion of all jobs, including job cards, spare parts, and PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) checks.

  • Assistance to Mechanics: Assist mechanics in daily operations both in the workshop and on-site.

  • Machine & Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine service and maintenance on company machinery and vehicles.

  • Debtor Follow-Up: Ensure follow-up on payments related to completed jobs.

  • Creditor Management: Manage creditor accounts in collaboration with the creditor department.

  • Customer Satisfaction: Meet customer requirements for product quality, specifications, delivery, and overall satisfaction.

  • Stock Management: Oversee stocktaking, ordering, and system administration in conjunction with the Storeman/Workshop Operations Supervisor.

  • Delivery Oversight: Supervise the checking and verification of deliveries.

  • Security Measures: Implement and ensure security measures to protect stock and equipment.

  • Daily Duties: Complete all tasks and duties related to the position, including any reasonable tasks assigned outside the primary job description.

  • Quality Assurance: Maintain the highest standard of work performance across all tasks.

  • Safety & Risk Management: Ensure the safe use and management of workshop equipment, tools, and the safety of all employees.

  • Leave & Attendance Reporting: Report on staff leave and absenteeism to management.

  • Timekeeping: Ensure accurate tracking of staff working hours and clock-in/out times.

Requirements

  • Matric grade 12
  • Knowledge of forklifts and mechanical background is an added advantage
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years on supervisory level
  • Valid drivers license
