Description

We are seeking an experienced Welding Supervisor to oversee welding and fabrication activities on large-scale mining and construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong trade background and hands-on experience supervising the erection of large steel structures and tanks (such as leach tanks used in mining).

This role requires a practical leader who can guide teams, ensure adherence to quality and safety standards, and deliver work to project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise welding, fabrication, and assembly activities on site.
  • Coordinate and oversee the erection of large steel tanks/structures in line with project specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with welding procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Inspect welding activities, and ensure proper use of equipment.
  • Maintain records of welding activities, material traceability, and quality checks.
  • Work closely with QA/QC inspectors, engineers, and contractors to resolve technical issues.
  • Lead and mentor welders and fabrication teams, promoting a culture of safety and quality.
  • Monitor work progress and ensure adherence to project schedules.

Requirements

  • Recognised trade test qualification (Boilermaker, Welder, or Fitter).
  • Safety certification (e.g., SAMTRAC, NOSA, or NEBOSH), as typically required on mine sites.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience erecting large steel tanks/structures (mining leach tanks highly advantageous).
  • Strong leadership skills with proven experience supervising teams in a construction/mining environment.
  • Good understanding of welding processes, materials, and standards.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Previous experience working on Namibian or Southern African mining projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines
