Description

Position Summary:
Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all equipment within the processing plant to ensure optimal production performance and minimal downtime.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)

  • National Vocational Certificate (Level 4) in Fitting and Turning

Minimum Working Experience:

  • At least 3 years of trade experience in a related field or within a processing plant environment

Other Requirements:

  • Proficient in English (both written and verbal communication)

Required Output

1. Diagnose and Repair Faulty Equipment

  • Diagnose and repair faulty equipment in accordance with company standards.

  • Apply warranty and company rules when carrying out repairs.

  • Conduct risk analysis and determine appropriate repair methods (planning).

  • Perform all repairs according to technical specifications and safety procedures.

2. Institute and Maintain Routine and Preventative Tasks

  • Adhere to all work instructions and maintenance procedures.

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of job cards.

  • Record all defects, changes, and repairs on the relevant job card to support a well-planned maintenance system.

  • Conduct scheduled inspections of all processing plant equipment to prevent serious breakdowns and ensure operational efficiency.

3. Ensure a Safe Working Environment

  • Maintain proper housekeeping at all times within the workshop and processing plant.

  • Ensure all equipment and work areas are cleaned and organized after each job.

  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

4. Standby Duties

  • Respond promptly to call-outs and attend to equipment issues as required.

  • Provide timely feedback and reporting on all call-outs or incidents.

5. Ad Hoc Duties

  • Supervise and guide assistants according to company procedures.

  • Provide on-the-job training to assistants to ensure skill development and adherence to safety and quality standards.
