Description
APS is looking for a Driver Evaluator who will be responsible for assessing and supporting drivers to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations across the fleet. The role focuses on evaluating driver performance, monitoring adherence to delivery procedures, and ensuring that all vehicles meet required safety and operational standards. The Driver Evaluator conducts ongoing training programs, performs practical and theoretical assessments, and provides feedback aimed at continuous improvement. Additionally, the role ensures that drivers operate professionally, vehicles remain roadworthy, and overall service quality meets organizational and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Driver Training and Assessment
- Conduct training programs for new and existing drivers on safe driving practices, vehicle operation, and regulatory compliance.
- Perform practical driving assessments and theoretical evaluations to determine driver competence.
- Provide constructive feedback and coaching to support driver improvement.
- Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure training remains current.
Vehicle Standards Monitoring
- Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to ensure they meet safety and operational standards.
- Verify adherence to maintenance schedules and report any required repairs.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department to resolve vehicle performance issues promptly.
Compliance Oversight
- Ensure strict adherence to delivery procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in developing and implementing operational procedures related to driver conduct and vehicle maintenance.
Performance Monitoring
- Monitor tracking systems to evaluate route efficiency, delivery timelines, and vehicle use.
- Analyse driver behaviour reports, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide performance feedback aimed at improving safety, efficiency, and professionalism.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, training sessions, vehicle inspections, and driver performance metrics.
- Prepare reports on training outcomes, compliance audits, and vehicle condition for management review.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay informed about advancements in driving education, regulatory updates, and vehicle tracking technologies.
- Recommend improvements to training methods, standards, and operational procedures to enhance safety and efficiency.
Customer Service
- Promote positive communication and collaboration between the driving team and other departments.
- Address customer-related feedback regarding deliveries or driver conduct and recommend service quality improvements.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Grade 12 (minimum requirement).
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Experience in driver training, fleet operations, transport, or a related field.
Skills & Abilities
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Strong interpersonal and social skills.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and coaching.
- Good communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain accurate documentation.
- Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics or road safety standards.
