Description
Africa Personnel Services on behalf of its client is looking for a Deputy General Manager in the oil and gas industry.
⚓ Core Responsibilities
The Deputy General Manager’s primary function is to drive the financial and operational success of their assigned area, acting as the critical link between executive management and day-to-day operations.
Strategic and Commercial Leadership:
Strategy Implementation: Develop, communicate, and implement the business unit's strategy in alignment with the company’s overall corporate goals.
Financial Performance: Assume Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility for the business unit, including managing budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and driving revenue growth to maximize profitability.
Business Development: Monitor market and industry trends, identify new business opportunities, and lead high-level engagement with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
Operational Oversight and Project Delivery:
Operational Management: Oversee all daily operations, ensuring projects and activities are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Project Governance: Ensure robust project management and execution processes are in place to deliver complex subsea and offshore energy projects on time and within budget.
Asset Management (where applicable): Oversee the preparation, utilization, and maintenance of significant company assets, such as vessels, ROVs, and fabrication facilities.
People and Compliance Management:
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a senior management team, delegating responsibilities and ensuring alignment across various functional departments (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Commercial, HR).
Safety and Quality (HSEQ): Uphold and enforce the highest standards of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality across all operations, which is paramount in the offshore industry.
Risk and Compliance: Ensure all business activities comply with local laws, international regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
Requirements
Extensive Industry Experience: Significant, progressive experience (10+ years) in the offshore, subsea, or oil and gas/renewables energy sector, with a proven track record of successful project delivery and business unit management.
Management Experience: Proven experience in a senior leadership or executive role, ideally managing a large, multidisciplinary team and handling P&L responsibilities.
Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Engineering, Marine Sciences) or Business Administration (MBA).
Professional Certification: Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer, PMP) are highly advantageous.
