Our client is recruiting for an Electrical Supervisor to join our project team in Oranjemund, Namibia

Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the Electrical Supervisor is responsible to attain zero harm through safe maintenance practices and to achieve a high level of Electrical and Instrumentation availability through the supervision of direct and indirect reports and efficient management of available resources.

The role ensures continuous mining feed to the Processing Plant while maintaining operational discipline, equipment integrity, and adherence to production and safety targets.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Supervise, train, and mentor a team of electrical technicians and tradespeople, ensuring safe and efficient maintenance practices.
  • Conduct performance reviews and evaluations, schedule work, and allocate resources for optimal efficiency.
  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment, including MCCs, transformers, and other plant automation systems.
  • Coordinate and execute preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and instrumentation issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper use of PPE, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and isolation procedures.
  • Conduct safety inspections, training, and toolbox talks, and ensure work is executed according to relevant Method Statements and JRA/JHA.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Project teams to align electrical activities with organizational goals.
  • Assist the Superintendent with planning and scheduling maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
  • Assist with installation of new equipment and modifications to existing systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, maintenance, and equipment, and assist in managing budgets and expenditures related to electrical maintenance.

 

Requirements

The expertise you'll bring

  • Be a Namibian citizen
  • Electrical Engineering Trade Qualification or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
  • Minimum 8 years post-training electrical experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory position.
  • Proven experience with Dry Mining Units (DMU) or dozer trap wiring systems
  • Sound practical experience of electrical isolation procedures.
  • Experience with large electrical motors, plant automation, PLC controls, VSDs, sensors, and single and three-phase power.
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the electrical trade.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical engineering practice, fault finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
  • Skilled in planning, scheduling, documentation, and drawing interpretation.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS reporting tools.
  • Willingness to work rotational shifts and adapt to changing operational requirements.
