Description

Our client is seeking a Accountant who will serve as the Financial Manager's right hand, ensuring the integrity of daily financial operations and statutory compliance. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of accounting support—from managing bank reconciliations and creditor ledgers to handling NamRA returns and audit preparations. By combining technical accounting with administrative oversight, you will play a key role in maintaining the company’s financial standing and providing the analytical insights necessary for strategic decision-making.

 Key Responsibilities:

FINANCIAL OPERATIONS

  • Reconciliations: Execute daily Bank recons, monthly Petty Cash, Petrol accounts, and Financing Bank recons.
  • Payments: Process daily Creditor invoices and load payments via FNB Online Banking.
  • Journals: Handle General journals, Credit Card statements, and Amortization for internal financing deals.
  • Analytics: Analyse Management reports, perform Balance Sheet recons, and report on Budget vs. Actual findings.

COMPLIANCE & TAXATION

  • NamRA: Full administration of ITAS Returns; resolve discrepancies and ensure accounts remain in "Good Standing”.
  • Submissions: Manage annual VET Levy Training Grant submissions and financial reports for tender purposes.

ASSET & RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Assets: Manage the Fixed Asset Register, including all acquisitions and disposals.
  • Insurance: Maintain current Insurance Policies and the Electronic Equipment list.
  • Fleet: Provide detailed summaries and tracking of Vehicle repairs and maintenance.

ADMINISTRATION & SUPPORT

  • Audit: Prepare for financial year-end and provide hands-on assistance to Auditors.
  • Executive Support: Assist the Financial Manager with ad hoc tasks and perform analytics as requested.
  • Coordination: Take minutes at meetings and administer both internal and external training programs.
  • Filing: Maintain a rigorous filing and archiving system for all financial records.

Requirements

  • Education: Matric with Accounting (Degree or Diploma in Finance/Accounting is a plus).
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in a Financial/Accounting environment.
  • Software: Proficient in MS Office with very good MS Excell skills. Specific experience with Fincon Accounting is a strong advantage.
  • Communication: Professional verbal and written skills with a high attention to detail.
