Description
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, and service-driven Lodge Manager to oversee the daily operations of an exclusive 5-star lodge in Central Namibia. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who thrives in a remote luxury environment and is passionate about exceptional guest experiences, wildlife, safari tourism, and operational excellence.
As part of a growing luxury lodge operation, the Lodge Manager will play a key leadership role in developing the lodge’s reputation, driving bookings and guest satisfaction, and managing a high-performing team. The successful candidate must be comfortable living on-site and leading by example in a remote bush environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lodge Operations & Guest Experience
- Oversee the daily operation and smooth flow of the lodge, including housekeeping, food & beverage (F&B), maintenance, guiding activities, and guest services.
- Deliver and maintain exceptional 5-star guest experiences with a focus on personalised and “invisible service.”
- Anticipate guest needs proactively and resolve issues efficiently and professionally.
- Ensure high standards of lodge presentation, cleanliness, and hospitality always.
- Coordinate safari, hunting, and tourism guest activities in collaboration with Professional Hunters (PHs), guides and operational staff.
Bookings & Business Development
- Manage lodge bookings, guest communications, and reservation systems.
- Drive customer acquisition through provided booking platforms, travel networks, hunting operators, and tourism partnerships.
- Assist in developing the lodge brand and growing occupancy across hunting, safari, and tourism markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, agents, and repeat clientele.
Staff Management & Leadership
- Supervise and lead lodge staff to maintain luxury service standards.
- Prepare duty rosters, manage leave schedules, and oversee staff wellness and performance reviews in accordance with Namibian Labour Law.
- Foster a positive team culture focused on accountability, professionalism, and guest satisfaction.
- Lead by example and maintain calm, solution-orientated leadership under pressure.
Financial & Administrative Management
- Manage lodge budgets, petty cash, supplier accounts, and month-end financial reporting.
- Maintain strict stock controls for the bar, pantry, curio shop, fuel, and operational supplies.
- Conduct regular stock takes and audits to ensure accountability and zero “out-of-stock” incidents.
- Coordinate procurement and logistics within a remote operating environment.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ management experience within a luxury lodge, safari lodge, hunting lodge.
- Experience in remote lodge operations is essential.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong financial literacy and administrative skills, including budgeting and Excel proficiency.
- Excellent organisational and operational management skills.
- Strong booking and guest relations experience.
- Valid driver’s licence is required.
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans; German language skills will be highly advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive and flexible approach.
