Description
Job Purpose
The Lifting Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, authorising, and supervising all lifting and cargo-handling operations associated with supply base and offshore logistics activities. The role ensures that lifting activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and OGP HSE standards. The Lifting Supervisor prepares and approves lift plans, verifies lifting equipment certification, conducts Toolbox Talks (TBTs), and supervises loading and unloading operations involving Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) and related logistics support activities.
Appointment to this position is subject to Company review and approval. The Company reserves the right to approve or reject candidates based on operational requirements, competence assessment, qualifications, experience, and client acceptance criteria.
Key Responsibilities
Lifting Operations Management
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all routine and non-routine lifting operations.
- Ensure lifting activities are executed in accordance with approved procedures and lift plans.
- Assess lifting requirements and determine appropriate lifting methods, equipment, and personnel.
- Monitor lifting operations to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Stop lifting operations whenever unsafe conditions or non-compliance are identified.
PSV Loading and Unloading Operations
- Supervise loading and unloading activities involving Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs).
- Coordinate cargo handling activities between vessel crews, stevedores, crane operators, riggers, and logistics personnel.
- Verify cargo manifests, lifting arrangements, and cargo securing requirements.
- Ensure cargo is handled, stowed, and transferred safely and efficiently.
- Monitor vessel turnaround activities to minimise operational delays.
Lift Planning and Authorisation
- Prepare lift plans for routine, critical, and complex lifting operations.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify hazards associated with lifting activities.
- Verify load weights, centres of gravity, lifting points, and rigging configurations.
- Review and authorise lift plans in accordance with company procedures and project requirements.
- Ensure all lifting operations are supported by the necessary permits and approvals.
Lifting Equipment Control
- Verify that cranes, lifting gear, rigging equipment, and accessories are certified and fit for purpose.
- Ensure lifting equipment inspections and certifications remain current.
- Review lifting registers and certification records before use.
- Quarantine and report defective, damaged, or uncertified lifting equipment.
- Participate in lifting equipment audits and inspections.
Toolbox Talks and Safety Leadership
- Conduct Toolbox Talks (TBTs) and pre-job safety briefings before lifting activities.
- Ensure all personnel understand lifting hazards, controls, and responsibilities.
- Promote compliance with OGP HSE requirements and safe lifting practices.
- Encourage proactive hazard reporting and participation in behavioural safety programs.
- Mentor and coach riggers, banksmen, and lifting personnel.
HSE and Risk Management
- Ensure lifting operations comply with company HSE policies, client requirements, and industry standards.
- Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Task Risk Assessments (TRAs), and permit-to-work activities.
- Report and investigate lifting incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Implement corrective actions arising from inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Support emergency response activities when required.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of lift plans, inspections, permits, and operational activities.
- Prepare lifting operation reports and performance statistics.
- Verify completion and filing of lifting documentation.
- Support internal and client audits relating to lifting operations.
- Ensure traceability and control of lifting-related records.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with vessel crews, logistics personnel, crane operators, HSE personnel, and client representatives.
- Coordinate lifting activities with operational departments to ensure safe execution.
- Attend operational planning and safety meetings as required.
- Provide technical advice on lifting and rigging matters.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Senior Secondary Certificate) or equivalent.
- Recognised Lifting Supervisor Certification.
- Lifting and Rigging Competency Certification.
- Valid HSE Training relevant to Oil & Gas operations.
- Risk Assessment and Permit-to-Work Training.
- Incident Investigation Training advantageous.
- Offshore or marine logistics safety training preferred.
Experience
- MinimumĀ 2 years' experience in drilling logistics operations.
- MinimumĀ 5 years' experience in logistics support operations.
- MinimumĀ 5 years' Oil & Gas Producers (OGP) HSE experience.
- Proven experience supervising lifting operations within oil & gas, marine, offshore logistics, supply base, or port environments.
- Experience supervising PSV loading and unloading operations.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and authorising lift plans.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of lifting and rigging practices and standards.
- Understanding of offshore logistics and marine cargo handling operations.
- Knowledge of PSV cargo operations and deck loading requirements.
- Familiarity with OGP HSE guidelines and lifting safety requirements.
- Ability to develop and review lift plans and risk assessments.
- Knowledge of lifting equipment certification and inspection requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in operational reporting and documentation systems.

Physical and Medical Requirements
- Medically fit for offshore logistics, supply base, and quayside operations.
- Ability to work outdoors and onboard vessels in varying environmental conditions.

- Capable of accessing vessels, quaysides, warehouses, and operational work areas safely.

Operational Requirements
During active operations, shall maintain a 24/7 operational manning regime by rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, for all operational roles required to support vessel operations, loadouts/backloads, quayside activities, yard operations, customs and materials handling, and time-sensitive drilling logistics.
