Description

The Dental Pre-Authorisation Nurse is responsible for dental utilisation management, clinical review, education/training, and coordination of care between the medical aid fund, members, healthcare providers, and the broader healthcare network. The role ensures that dental treatments are clinically appropriate, cost-effective, and aligned with fund rules and clinical protocols.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verify Eligibility: Confirm cover using membership files and scheme rules.
  • Assess Claims: Authorise dental treatment based on clinical guidelines and benefits.
  • Provider Liaison: Communicate authorised treatments, benefits, and Namibian Dollar values to providers.
  • Data Entry: Capture and update member clinical and demographic details on internal systems.
  • Case Preparation: Prepare summaries and present complex cases to the Dental Advisor.
  • Reporting: Provide clinical input and compile reports as needed.
  • Special Projects: Complete departmental assignments and special projects.

Requirements

  • Industry Experience: 3 – 5 years in a medical scheme or managed care call centre.
  • Clinical Background: Dental Nursing qualification and clinical experience is an advantage.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Service Focus: Excellent customer service and customer-friendly problem-solving skills.
  • Local Knowledge: Working knowledge of the Namibian healthcare system and funding models.

Core Requirements

  • Language: Fluent in English (read, write, speak). Additional languages are an advantage.
  • Registration: Current and continued registration with the HPCNA.
  • Logistics: Based in Namibia, own transport is essential, and willing to work long hours if needed.
  • Tech Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and medical administration systems.
