Description

APS is looking for Account Managers (for our Coastal, Central, and Northern Branches) who will be responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling APS operations in a highly efficient and cost-effective manner while ensuring excellent service delivery and full client satisfaction. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all client-related matters and is accountable for anticipating client needs, coordinating internal resources, and ensuring that all contractual obligations and operational deadlines are met.

The Account Manager oversees the effective deployment and management of APS employees at client sites, ensuring compliance with contractual, legislative, and operational requirements. The role requires strong leadership, operational oversight, and continuous client engagement to maintain service quality, manage costs, and identify opportunities to expand APS services within the client’s business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive operational and key account services to clients, maintaining professional and respectful client relationships at all times.
  • Act as the primary liaison between APS and the client, responding promptly to enquiries and ensuring clear written communication where required.
  • Plan, coordinate, and control the timely supply of APS workers in line with client requirements and approved quotations.
  • Collaborate with client team leaders and APS supervisors to develop and manage effective shift rosters.
  • Conduct regular site and branch visits to ensure operational control, service quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Monitor and control the performance and quality of work of APS supervisors and employees on site.
  • Manage the onboarding of new workers, ensuring completion of employment documentation, inductions, PPE issuance, and policy compliance.
  • Maintain continuous communication with employees, addressing concerns and resolving issues while keeping accurate written records.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of timesheets, clock cards, and supporting documentation for payroll and billing purposes.
  • Monitor operational reports (including shortages, driver behaviour, fuel consumption, and client feedback) and provide written feedback to management.
  • Manage employee leave, rest days, and attendance in line with company and client policies.
  • Exercise strict financial control to ensure client-related costs remain within contractual limits and protect gross profit margins.
  • Manage employee discipline in compliance with labour legislation, maintaining full documentation of all procedures.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate appropriate training interventions for supervisors and employees.
  • Continuously evaluate employee performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand APS services within existing client operations and communicate new needs to management and marketing teams.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties required to support APS operations and client requirements.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Training

  • Grade 12
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, employees, and management.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Proven customer service and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with management.
  • Sound understanding of workforce management, operational controls, and compliance requirements.
