Description
The Audit Assistant will support the audit team in planning and executing audits, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout the audit process. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and communication skills, who can work effectively under supervision while maintaining professional relationships with clients. The Audit Assistant will assist in performing audit procedures, preparing working papers, analyzing financial information, and contributing to the preparation of reports. In addition, the role includes exposure to taxation and administrative responsibilities, providing a strong foundation for professional development in the auditing and accounting field.
Key Responsibilities
Audit and Assurance
- Participate as an active member of the audit team, supporting planning and fieldwork activities.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients to ensure effective communication and cooperation.
- Conduct tests of controls and perform substantive and analytical procedures as per the approved audit program.
- Examine records, reports, and documentation to ensure compliance with internal control procedures and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and organize audit working papers to meet international auditing and firm quality standards.
- Communicate audit findings and observations with the audit manager or partner.
- Assist in drafting audit and management reports for client discussions.
- Stay current on professional developments by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and maintaining professional networks.
Taxation
- Collect and analyze taxpayer information to support preparation of income tax, PAYE, and VAT computations.
- Assist with the submission and filing of tax returns (ITAS and manual).
- Address and resolve taxpayer queries and support registration of new taxpayers or other related tax services.
Administrative Support

Perform general office administrative duties, such as filing, attending to reception tasks, and running errands when required.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Subjects: Audit must be included as a subject of study.
Experience: Prior work experience in auditing or accounting will be an advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Sound understanding of accounting and auditing principles.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and computer literacy.
- Excellent numerical accuracy and logical reasoning ability.
