Job Summary:

The CCTV Operator will be responsible for monitoring live video feeds, identifying suspicious activities, and ensuring the safety and security of the premises. This role requires vigilance, quick decision-making, and the ability to operate security equipment efficiently.

  • Monitor CCTV Cameras: Constantly monitor live video feeds from security cameras across the premises to detect any unusual or suspicious activity.

  • Record Incidents: Record incidents of interest for later review and ensure proper documentation of any noteworthy occurrences.

  • Respond to Alerts: Respond to alarms and system alerts by investigating the cause of the activation and taking appropriate action.

  • Report Suspicious Activities: Immediately report suspicious activities, safety breaches, or any security concerns to management or law enforcement if necessary.

  • Maintain Equipment: Ensure the CCTV equipment is functioning properly, perform regular maintenance checks, and report any faults to the maintenance team.

  • Review Footage: Review historical footage when requested by supervisors, law enforcement, or during investigations to identify specific events or persons of interest.

  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure the CCTV system is operated in compliance with company policies, privacy regulations, and legal requirements.

  • Coordinate with Security Personnel: Work closely with on-site security teams to coordinate responses to any security issues or emergencies.

  • Handle Incident Reports: Prepare and submit detailed reports on incidents observed, including written documentation and video evidence.

 

Requirements

Skills:

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to observe, detect, and interpret video footage carefully and accurately.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to report incidents clearly and efficiently.

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with CCTV equipment, surveillance software, and other security tools.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to act quickly and appropriately during security incidents, and take the initiative when necessary.

  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive footage and information.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to sit for long periods and maintain focus throughout shifts, especially during extended monitoring sessions.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some employers may require additional qualifications).

  • Previous experience in security or monitoring roles may be preferred.

  • Knowledge of CCTV systems or related security technology is advantageous.

Working Conditions:

  • The role may require working shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • CCTV Operators may need to sit for long periods during shifts.
