Description
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Electrician / Panel Builder to join our team in the assembly, wiring, testing, and completion of electrical panels and assemblies. The successful candidate will be responsible for building electrical distribution boards and control panels to specification, ensuring quality workmanship, compliance, and safe working practices. The role requires good technical knowledge, hands-on ability, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to workshop production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and build electrical panels, distribution boards, and related assemblies in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Perform wiring, fitting, mounting, and installation of electrical components within panels and assemblies.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts accurately.
- Install busbars, breakers, contactors, relays, meters, terminals, and other associated electrical equipment.
- Conduct panel wiring neatly and correctly in line with company standards and good electrical practice.
- Assist with testing, fault finding, and inspection of completed assemblies before dispatch.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
- Identify material shortages, technical issues, or drawing discrepancies and report them timeously.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the workshop.
- Assist with modifications, repairs, and reworks when required.
- Support the workshop team in meeting production targets and project deadlines.
- Ensure tools and equipment are used correctly and looked after responsibly.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant electrical qualification, trade certificate, or proven experience in panel building and electrical assembly work.
- Experience in building and wiring electrical panels, boards, and control assemblies.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Good knowledge of electrical components and their functions.
- Understanding of safe electrical work practices and workshop discipline.
- Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Good attention to detail and pride in neat workmanship.
- Physically fit and capable of workshop-based technical work.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- Experience with low-voltage distribution boards, control panels, and motor control assemblies.
- Basic fault-finding and testing ability.
- Familiarity with panel layout, busbar assembly, and termination standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills and willingness to follow instruction.
