Guesthouse Manager (German Speaking)

Our client is seeking a dedicated, hands-on Guesthouse Manager to oversee the daily operations of thier small guesthouse in central Namibia. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who enjoys hosting and can maintain high standards of service while managing both front-of-house and back-of-house responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Guest Relations & Operations:
   1. Manage the full guest cycle, including group check-ins and check-outs.
   2. Act as the primary point of contact for guests, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
   3. Communicate fluently with German-speaking guests to provide a high level of service.
   4. Control and regulate the booking calendar and reservation systems.
2. Staff Supervision:
   1. Supervise and lead the cleaning staff to ensure rooms and common areas meet meticulous standards.
   2. Oversee kitchen staff, coordinating meal preparations and ensuring high standards of hygiene and service.
   3. Oversee ground maintenance personnel to ensure the upkeep of landscaped areas
3. Administrative & Financial:
   1. Perform light bookkeeping, including tracking daily expenses and financial reporting.
   2. Handle guest invoicing and ensure all accounts are settled accurately.
   3. Manage staff salary payments and maintain basic HR records.
4. Logistics & Maintenance:
   1. Perform grocery shopping and inventory management for the guesthouse.
   2. Utilize the guesthouse vehicle for errands and operational needs.
   3. Oversee general maintenance and ensure the property is in excellent repair.

Requirements

1. Languages: Fluency in both German and English is mandatory.
2. Experience: Proven experience in guesthouse or lodge management.
3. Skills: Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
4. License: Valid driver’s license is essential.
5. Attributes: Detail-oriented, hospitable, and able to work flexible hours.
