Description
The Head of Sales and Marketing is responsible for driving company revenue and brand growth through the development and execution of high-level, integrated sales and marketing strategies. The role includes managing the sales and marketing budget, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring the effective delivery of strategic initiatives.
Key responsibilities include sales forecasting, optimizing multi-channel marketing campaigns, analysing market trends to maintain a competitive advantage, and building and maintaining strategic client relationships.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Head of Sales and Marketing will be accountable for presenting return on investment (ROI), key marketing metrics, and progress against ambitious sales targets.
The role further involves managing senior-level client relationships, overseeing service implementation, and supporting the continuous development and improvement of sales and marketing strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Marketing Growth Strategy (Profit)
- Aggressive acquisition of new business: locally, globally and sub-Sahara.
- Actively drive corporate client growth guided by the company strategy, based on data received from the Operations Manager / Finance Manager /Managing Director and input from the Travel Advisors.
- Create new and untapped markets based on the development of new income streams and client value propositions.
- Be mindful of segmentation in terms of size, profitability and strategic importance.
- Drive client revenue with profitability in mind.
- Contribute towards sustainable client pricing models.
- Successfully implement new marketing strategies, new digital solutions and expand solutions for client requests / concerns.
- Collaborate with the Managing Director, Finance Manager and Operations Manager to
design, implement and execute comprehensive marketing and sales strategies aimed at achieving company goals. - Proactively research and identify key growth areas to drive business expansion and increase market share.
- Actively promote the company brand through various trade engagements and industry events, identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities.
- Showcase company brand and supporting sub-brands.
- Contribute towards the integration and centralization of the position of the company brand (internal and external).
- Consistently monitor and drive sales of the travel advisors and ITCs.
- Provide feedback (presentation based on values) to the Managing Director.
- Assist the company in enforcing policy decisions regarding contracts, payment terms, and other corporate client agreements.
Client Liaison and Customer Care
- Retention, development and growth. Influencing senior level client relationships which are aligned to client / company expected outcomes.

- Maintain and nurture existing client relationships (mainly corporate), ensuring regular communication and engagement with clients. This speaks to the retention of current clients with company value-adds to enhance client experience and connectivity.
- Support customer and business technology implementations.
- Address and resolve corporate client issues promptly to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Ensure exceptional and consistent client service.
- Available to take calls 24/7 from customers, suppliers and colleagues.
Service Offering / Product Implementation
- Work closely with the Managing Director and Operations Manager to ensure a dynamic, competitive, and market-relevant service offering.
- Contribute effectively to change management in terms of growth and regeneration of
strategies and targets. - Oversee destination training programs and package creation initiatives, where required, to meet market demands and client expectations.
- Ensure that all services are aligned with company quality standards and meet client expectations consistently.
- Achieve product and strategy implementation efficiencies.
- Continually developing company brand and building awareness locally, globally and sub-Saharan.
- Engage and maintain relationships with 3rd party applications managers.
People Development
- Oversee educational travel programmers for the corporate Travel Advisors to enhance their knowledge, expertise, and ability to serve clients effectively.
- Develop, coach and motivate the Sales and Business Development / Key Accounts Department.
- Develop training plans and performance improvement measures together with HR to
address skills gaps.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Tourism Management, MBA
or a related field (non-negotiable). - Minimum of 12 years of marketing and sales experience, with at least 5 years in a senior marketing and sales leadership role, preferably within the travel and tourism industry.
- Proven track record of achieving marketing and sales targets and driving significant revenue growth in a competitive market (backed by numbers).
- Demonstrated experience in marketing and sales planning and execution, including market analysis, sales forecasting, and setting sustainable long-term goals.
- Proven track record of securing profitable new business and experience of managing team members and negotiating substantial new contracts.
