Description
- Support chefs with daily prep: chopping vegetables, grating cheese, mixing sauces, portioning ingredients.
- Wash and sanitize all dishes, trays, cutlery, tools and surfaces throughout the service.
- Organize prep stations and cold storage in a clean, logical manner.
- Label, date, and store ingredients correctly following FIFO method.
- Plate basic items under chef supervision with consistency and speed.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain spotless kitchen and dish areas during and after shifts.
Additional Duties:
- Portion, oil, and store Focaccia and pizza dough.
- Clean and stock dough boxes and GN trays.
- Pack and prepare takeaway packaging and disposables.
- Empty bins, sanitize floors, and perform an end-of-day deep cleaning.
- Monitor supply levels and communicate restocking needs promptly.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a commercial kitchen.
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy items, stand long hours, and move efficiently.
- Fast, clean, and structured in your approach to work.
- Deep respect for hygiene, timing and kitchen order.
- Works well with instructions but also takes initiative to stay busy.
- Punctual, respectful, and calm under pressure.
- Fluent in English or Afrikaans; local language skills are a plus.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
