Description

Our client is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to lead the team in Namibia and support the Laboratory Manager to achieve business objectives and ensure compliance to the company policies and business guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To plan, organize and control Operations.
  • To support the field auditors, inspectors and HSE & quality coordinator
  • Manage and monitor the operational performance of all operations activities.
  • Control the implementation and maintenance of technical and operational procedures.
  • Control the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Control and Safety systems.
  • Ensure that adequate and appropriate manpower resources, equipment and tools are available for total operational efficiency.
  • Ensure liaison and technical support to all present and potential clients.
  • Assist the Regional Manager with complaints and claim resolution.
  • Assist the Regional Manager with technical and sales support as well as proposal co-ordination.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the company's management system and country legislation and laws.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct manager.
  • Efficient planning and organization of staff within safe operating conditions. This entails minimization of overtime on site
  • Apply Check status process and use the stop work Authority wherever the control of risks is not clearly established and understood.
  • Participate and form part of Operational Integrity projects and campaigns.
  • Be compliant to all company QHSE and HR policies and procedures.
  • At all times, comply with company Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
  • The basis upon which the opinion and interpretation is to be made shall be recorded. Opinions and interpretations shall only be made by designated (authorized) staff

Specific Authorities

  • Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or entry to hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection, and take action to address the hazard.
  • Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and take action to address the issue.
  • Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
  • Manage the petty cash usage at the site
  • Provide work plan updates weekly

Requirements

Education

  • Sampling and statistical analysis
  • SHE Knowledge
  • SANAS ISO17025 Course.
  • Management

Experience

  • 5 years of management experience.
  • Scheduling of staff
  • Safety and quality experience
  • Sample preparation and, preparation experience.

Competencies

  • 5 years management experience.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write)

Compliance & Authority:  

  • Compliant with all company QOH&S and HR policies and procedures
  • Granted sufficient authority to achieve the given responsibilities as per relevant company Authority policies
  • Responsible for the daily safety and health of employees on behalf of company upper management and for raising issues with company upper management where required
  • Keep up to date on company inspection policies and procedures. Apply the necessary policy to all inspections to avoid misunderstandings during inspections
  • Adhere to all QHSE requirements of the company's management systems.
