Description
The Senior IT Technician will be responsible for deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex IT infrastructure for corporate clients. The role demands strong technical capability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with vendors, ISPs, and internal stakeholders.
The position combines fieldwork, client interaction, and hands‑on system administration, requiring an individual who is both technically proficient and service‑oriented.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with ISPs, telecom companies, and third‑party technology partners to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Execute LAN, surveillance, and server‑deployment projects from planning to completion.
- Maintain accurate client infrastructure inventories, including servers, network devices, software, and licensing/subscription records.
- Receive, troubleshoot, document, and resolve client‑reported issues while ensuring timely escalation where necessary.
- Maintain 99% infrastructure uptime by proactively monitoring networks, security status, and system performance.
- Conduct firmware upgrades, operating system patching, antivirus updates, and implement IT policies across client environments.
- Ensure thorough documentation of incidents, configurations, and system changes to maintain operational transparency.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical background in TCP/IP networking, covering WAN, LAN, and VLAN environments.
- Proven ability to install and configure routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Solid understanding of physical and virtual IT environments, including VMware virtualization.
- Experience managing SAN and NAS storage solutions.
- In‑depth knowledge of backup technologies and data‑protection methodologies.
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with a proactive, detail‑oriented work ethic.
- Strong teamwork mentality and ability to collaborate on complex technical tasks.
- Competency in root‑cause analysis and ability to maintain structured documentation.
- Practical experience with CCTV systems, NVR configurations, and remote‑viewing setups.
- Hands‑on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory (AD DS) installation and administration.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant IT infrastructure experience with traceable references.
- Full Grade 12 Certificate, with credits in Mathematics and English.
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Two valid professional certifications, selected from:
HPE, Cisco, Veeam, VMware, Fortinet, Sophos, Microsoft, Azure
