Description

We require the services of a Syrup Room Team Leader, reporting to the Processing Unit Manager.

The purpose of the Syrup Room Team Leader is to lead and develop the team to manufacture and provide quality products, and to maintain quality standards within process support in line with specified benchmark standards—ensuring that the plant produces on time and in full to meet customer demands.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Plan raw materials as per shifts.

  • Plan and coordinate the mixing of syrup manufacture.

  • Oversee the preparation of simple and final syrup batches.

  • Ensure correct supply of final syrup to production.

  • Perform CIP on all tanks, piping, and syrup room equipment.

  • Perform all standard quality tests.

  • Maintain Health & Safety Standards.

  • Manage and develop the syrup room team while maintaining discipline.

  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and GMP standards.

  • Support, coach, and manage team members.

  • Develop and monitor team goals.

  • Manage Infinity enter results and micro results.

  • Train staff on new incoming procedures and KORE requirements.

  • Conduct daily stock taking.

  • Manage overtime, staff leave days, and supply chain 5 Whys standards.

  • Ensure MDS backflushing is done daily.

  • Manage forklift hours and MDT meetings daily.

  • Ensure shift changes are in place.

  • Implement CAP Strategy.

  • Stand in for staff shortages when required.

  • Follow up on TAGS and outstanding POs.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 with Science and Mathematics subjects.

  • N3 qualification (Electrical, Mechanical, or Instrumentation).

  • Qualification in Food Science, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar (added advantage).

  • 3–5 years’ technical and leadership experience in an FMCG environment.

  • Numerical skills and good understanding of hygiene requirements.

  • Availability to work shifts and weekends.

  • Results-driven and process-oriented.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Conflict management and understanding of The Manufacturing Way / WCM / Lean practices and principles.

  • Forklift license (added advantage).

  • SAP experience.

  • Microsoft D653 Finance and Operations experience (added advantage).
